Ysabel straightened and with a smug smile looked down at her work. Three Witches lay dead at her feet, their blood pooling beneath them in crimson puddles. She sheathed her knife and bent down, dragging the bodies only a pile of dry grass and leaves. Walking to her motorcycle she pulled out a small red fuel tank from the rear compartment; untwisting the cap and walked back to the pile, scattering the gas over the corpses. Reaching into her pocket Ysabel pulled out a match box and swiped one along the box’s side till the match hissed and glowed. It flew from her hand and onto the bodies, the flames dimming in hesitation before flaring over the pile as it hungrily ate at the gasoline and flesh.

“Not the traditional way to burn Witches, but get’s shit done I see.” Came a voice from behind her.

Ysabel refused to look away from the dancing flames and smirked. “I believe this is how the Salem Witch Trials should have been held.” She turned to look at the owner of the voice. It was a tall woman in a long dress that was a dark cotton with an ebony scarf wrapped around her neck. Her face was pale and her cheekbones struck sharp against her skin as malnutrition had eaten away at her face.

“Really?” The woman had a soft smile to her thin, dry lips. Ysabel could feel an odd, uncomfortable vibration coming from the woman. “Would it not have ended the same way? Just a bit more mess than needed.”

“No.” Ysabel smirked. “You only go after the people who are snarling at the bit, and maybe all those innocent people didn't have to die.”

“And what does a Cambion care about innocence?” The woman chuckled, “Your kind only cares about slaying demons.”

Ysabel gave an amused noise. “Oh, if only you were possessed. I’d take much more pleasure in doing this.” Her eyes darkened, staring into the Witch’s eyes.

The woman went white and her brows furrowed in confusion as the look made her shiver. “But, I never said I was a Witch…”

Ysabel smirked, “You didn't have to.” Black veins begin to come to light beneath her skin and wriggle about as she stared at the woman, an unknown force keeping her tethered to the ground.

“No! Please! I did nothing wrong! I made no contracts! Please!” She begged but Ysabel’s eye’s had gone black and she was beyond empathy.

“Sorry, love. I don’t believe you.” Her muscles tensed and the woman cried out as her body began to feel as if it were boiling. Ysabel grinned, revealing her sharp incisors while the scream grew louder and the Witches veins began to bulge and burst with in her, causing her to flail and collapse as it felt like a swarm of insects were eating away at her. The horrified screams echoed and Ysabel continued to grin, watching as bruises scattered the woman's skin and blood began to seep from her nose and eyes. Her life began to slowly leave her, the screams dying away to whimpers. Ysabel walked over, the black veins calming and sinking below her pale skin. She crouched down by the woman's face and gave her a small smile. “You can’t lie to me darling. A cult may as well be a contract.” The woman’s eyes glanced down to the amulet around her neck. Ysabel smirked and as the Witches eyes bulged Ysabel grabbed her by her jaw and jerked, her neck snapping and releasing her from this world.

Ysabel stood up with a sigh and grabbed her up, tossing her into the flames with the others and watched as the fire devoured their corpses, crumbling away to ash. Her face no longer was smug as she watched but was almost disheartened. She turned back to her bike, grabbing up the helmet from the seat and pulling it over her head so that only her eyes peered out through the long round opening. She flicked the visor down and swung her leg over, perching herself onto the bike and kicking up the stand as she turned the key and it trembled awake with a strong gurgling roar. Her feet lifted off the ground and she turned the bike back onto the road, urging it to go faster as she sped away from the bonfire.

Ysabel turned off the road and let down her feet as she was stopping to check her phone that was obnoxiously vibrating in her pocket. The bike murmured as she set down the kickstand and reached for her phone. With a bit of a struggle she removed it and saw Fenris was calling her. Her brows furrowed. This was odd… He never called the guild members unless it was an emergency and she just prayed it wasn't bad.

She ripped off her helmet and set it under her arm as she tapped ACCEPT and pressed the phone to her ear. “Hello?”

“Why hello, Ysabel. You finish that job with the Prairie Witches?” He asked with his usual calm tone, surprising Ysabel as she’d expected some kind of panic but everything seemed OK.

“Yes sir… Is something wrong?”

“No, no. I just have a special job for you.”

She blinked. What the hell was that supposed to mean? “Special job, sir?”

“Mhmm, regarding the demon’s plans.” She could practically see the sly grin on his face.

“I’m listening.” She relaxed, hunching on the bikes handlebars now.

Something clanked in the background, as if someone was ruffling around in a kitchen. “I've found what you might call a source.” The word rolled off his tongue as if he were tasting it to check if it was the right flavor. “It isn't really but a large portion of the overwhelming aura is coming from an old house, I guess it’d be a mansion. I've had some look into it and they all report that it’s a home for a Witches Cult.”

“You think a Witches Cult is calling demons here?” She said, unsure as she remembered the Witch from before.

“No, darling. I know a Witches Cult is calling demons.” There’s that smirk again. It just melted into his voice. “And I want you to exterminate it.”

“And how is one person supposed to take out an entire cult of Contracted Witches?” She sighed.

“I trust in you.” His voice let out a slithery sound. “Now be careful. I need my best soldier for more errands. Get there before those blessed chickens do. With these Witches I doubt any kind of Chanting will help.”

“Yes sir. Um, would you mind if I asked… How you found this cult?”

“They've been kidnapping Unknowns.” He said solemnly. Unknowns… The Witches who didn't know they were Witches. “And scattering their bones about.” He took a breath and his tone went back to his alluring taunt, “Don’t let me down.”

“Wait, I-” Click. The duration blinked before fading away as the call had ended. Then the screen lit up to reveal a text message from Fenris, giving her the address to the Witches Cult. She groaned as she’d just came from that way! With a huff she put away the phone and jerked on her helmet, kicking up the stand and pushing back onto the road to then make a u-turn and speed down the road towards her destination.

Afriel brushed his fingers through his hair as he wandered the Universities halls. He had only recently awoken and was in nothing but his baggy t-shirt and basketball shorts. His feet padded quietly against the cold floor, sending shivers up his spine. Only a few students were in the halls as trainees were preparing for class.

With a groggy yawn Afriel made it to a large bulletin board that was scattered with, what seemed to be wanted fliers but were job recommendations. There was a board on each end of the University, ranging in difficulties. The most difficult however was separate and held in the Headmaster’s office and hardly anyone was allowed to take jobs from that board.

Standing there he sighed and his eyes glanced about at the descriptions and rewards. This board was one of the more difficult ones and so not much was there. Then his eyes were drawn to the paper with two bold words that caused his interest to scream. WITCH CULT.

He pulled it down and read the details. It suggested multiple people to attend and he almost thought of asking his sister but before he could even think of something like that someone slammed into his back and clung to him. He let out a surprised protest and looked over his shoulder to see a grinning Jacqueline stealing a piggyback ride. He sighed and tried to pry her off but she remained.

“What do you want?” He grumbled in annoyance.

“I wanna see what job you’re getting!” She smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck.

“Why must you act like a ten year old this early in the morning?”

“Because it’s more fun.” She grinned and hopped off his back.

Afriel rolled his shoulders as he was relieved of her, but just as soon as she was off she had pulled the paper free of his hands and was reading it. “Jacqueline, give it back.” He groaned.

“Hey, look it says multiple people can take the job!”

“Yeah, what of it?”

“I wanna come! Baby bro might just need my help.” She grinned and he rolled his eyes. “Oh come on! It’ll be fun!”

“I’m not going with you.” He grumbled and snapped the paper out of her hands, folding it up and sticking it into his pocket. “You don’t think when you act. This job is important.”

“Oh come on! I’ll be good!”

He rolled his eyes as she begged. “Fine!” He snapped. “Just do what I say.” Afriel grumbled and she chuckled.

“Yeah right.” She grinned. “Come on skinny butt! Let’s go!” She said, hopping down the hallway.

He sighed. “Jackie, we’re still in pajamas.”

She stopped. “Oh… Right!” She then hurried back down the hall and Afriel brought his hand to his face with a sigh as he rubbed his forehead. This was not going to go well.

Additional Information

:bulletred:Witches
In this world Witches are not humans given magical powers through nature or birth, they are actually humans capable of holding a demon or angelic spirit. The lore of Witches having powers actually came to be because there are three direction's a Witch can go.
One is creating a contract with a demon. Since demons have their own powers they can create a contract with a Witch and share those powers; however it's been observed that these contracts are actually partial possessions as to share a demons power the demon must be present. This inevitably leads to demonic possession.
Which brings us to the second choice which is much less a choice and more the grand inconvenience of being a Witch. Demons get bored with contracts and then decide to cause a bit more direct mischief by possessing the Witch. Majority of the time Witches become possessed and are either killed by the demon when it's had it's fun or by the Nephilim/Cambions. However, not always is it a demon who possess' the Witches. Other times angels will posses the Witch in order to have a more firm presence on Earth; although this is EXCEPTIONALLY rare and almost never happens, making Witches more dangerous than helpful.
The third road to take as a Witch is the human one. Some don't even realize they are Witches and go about their daily lives with out any knowledge of demons.
*And it is important to note that Witches are a breed of HUMAN*
:bulletred:Cambions
Cambions are a unique race to this series/book. They are the spawn of a demon and a human, being either born through the demon or human. For the first few years they have no heartbeat an do not breath, along with being unusually heavy. As they grow out of this phase a series of black veins begin to develop, but to live among humans they begin to learn how to conceal them which takes a lot of energy at first but slowly they grow used to it. They also begin to develop powers that have been passed down by their demonic parents, although sometimes they develop their own powers that can progress through out their lives. Being half demon the Cambion's are, for all known purposes, damned to descend into hell after death.
